Commissioned by the Melbourne Arts Centre, Proscenium is a visual extravaganza, utilising a mixture of bold coloured graphics fused with stopmotion photography.
The theme for the work was ‘hidden spaces, secret places’ . The intent was to create an animation responding to the arts centers collections store as animation space and to also respond to content in the collection.
After investigating an overwhelming amount of amazing paper based materials and objects, it was decided that there was to be a focus on the pre-production elements by the late
Angus winneke, a prolific production designer working mainly for the Tivoli theatre in Melbourne during the mid 1900’s.
The result is a collage of Mr Winneke’s concept work, presenting elements of his scenes in a visual musical sequence for the screen. All of which can be seen contained in the rich history and forever growing Melbourne Arts Centre collection space.
